Marvellous film about obsession, with Liam Neeson
in a towering, moving performance as a runaway priest determined
to give a deprived child a taste of freedom and friendship. The most moving exploration of 'fathers and sons'
since Bicycle Thieves. Achingly moving prestige drama about a priest (the
excellent Neeson) going on the run with an inmate(Hugh O'Connor)…It's
obsessive despairing tone and doomed theme recall Bogart's High
Sierra. The film very movingly achieves many of those things
which are often so difficult in cinema. A portrait of goodness,
religion at work, and a multi-faceted view of human character. |
